Snow Business is a short speed runner made in Unity in one week to test the team’s cohesiveness. The assignment prepared us for the final university project that my team and I developed over the next six months. Apart from generating game ideas, I worked on the level design and UI elements.

  • Use WASD movement to control the character (use the “W” key to accelerates, the “S” key to slows down the speed, and the “A” and “D” keys to avoid obstacles on the way)
  • Use mouse to rotate the camera
  • Use the “Space” key to jump (holding the same key will charge the jump, making the next jump much higher)
  • Collect coins to receive extra points
  • In the end, the time needed to complete the track and the overall score are measured
Learning Outcomes
  • Working under a strict time limit and high-paced environment
  • Quickly generating game ideas
  • Swiftly taking on a specific role (within a team) and the corresponding tasks
  • Actively communicating throughout the development and constantly keeping up with the updates from other team members
  • Using various quick tools in Unity to create appropriate terrains and obstacles
